Day 309 of 365…
Until today I had never heard of The Sand Mandala or ever watched anyone create a fascinating, intricate piece of artwork with nothing but colored sand and special tools. I have now watched this process of creation done by Tibetan Monks and it is incredible. It’s a very relaxing and beautiful thing to watch.
The colors and detail are out of this world. This display under construction is being done by 5 Tibetan Monks who have been touring the West Coast and we are blessed with them stopping in to share this with us. This is happening at the Cascade Park Community Library today and finishing up tomorrow, December 23rd. You can watch them create this until 6pm tonight and all day tomorrow as well. There is no charge but they do have a donation bowl for anyone wanting to help cover their travel costs. If you would like to watch the Mandala Deconstruction Process you will want to be at the Cascade Park Library by 6pm Thursday, December 23rd to see it. I hear it is a beautiful ceremony that lasts about 45 minutes with chanting and music. They dismantle the last three days of work symbolizing life’s beginning, middle and end. Some sand will be distributed to those who want it and the rest will be placed in the Columbia River to bless our region.
I’d really recommend you try and swing by tonight before the library closes or sometime tomorrow to witness this yourself. It is worth the trip.
